Castor Oil

Castor oil, also called Ricinus Oil, nonvolatile fatty oil obtained from the seeds of the castor bean, Ricinus communis, of the spurge family (Euphorbiaceae). The castor seed, or bean, is the source of numerous economically important products as one of the world’s most important industrial oils, and was one of the earliest commercial products. Castor beans have been found in ancient Egyptian tombs dating back to 4000 BC and is native to the Ethiopian region of east Africa.

This incredible oil is great for your skin for a number of reasons. Firstly, because it contains antioxidants that fight free radicals in your body that are responsible for accelerating the aging process. Then there are the antibacterial properties. Bacteria on your face can clog pores and lead to acne.

Castor oil also has anti-inflammatory properties, which can be healing. For example, this means that it can reduce redness, puffiness, swelling, and even soothe sunburns. Its mix of (mostly) ricinoleic acid and other minor acids such as stearic, palmitic, and oleic acid means that it is super moisturising.
