moon beauty
🔮This is the skincare and haircare they don’t want you to know about. This is beauty without the nasties, the things you can’t pronounce, the ineffective, and the fillers. We aim to do good, with a touch of witchy flair.
✨There is a little bit of magic everywhere, you just have to know where to look. For us it’s in the majesty of nature. It’s present in the ingredients we use in our beautifying potions: organic unrefined shea butter, raw cocoa butter, golden avocado oil, herbs like hibiscus and nettle, and so much more. These babies are rich in nutrients like vitamins A, E, F, and other antioxidants that promote circulation and healthy skin cell growth, which when applied to the scalp promotes healthy hair growth.
🧙🏾♀️So, while you’re here, take a look at our mystical wares. Do you have skin that won’t stay moisturised? Or hair that just won’t listen, no matter how hard you try to convince it to behave? Your skin and hair aren’t the problem, they just have yet to be introduced to the right products and practices.
🌙 Luckily for you, you’ve come to the right place! Our blog is here to help you. Our products are here to save you.

No Synthetic Fragrances
Ingredients such as synthetic fragrances, parabens, and phthalates can be toxic for our bodies. Many synthetic chemicals in fragrances are derived from petrochemicals (petroleum-based), and can be harmful to human health. Chemicals found in man-made fragrances include phthalates, which are endocrine disruptors, and benzene derivatives, aldehydes, and toluene, which are known carcinogens. Some fragrance compounds are neurotoxicants and others are linked with reproductive birth defects. Some people have allergic or hypersensitivity reactions to fragrance chemicals, which we aim to avoid to have the most inclusive products possible.
No Parabens
Preservatives are used in cosmetics to prevent the growth of harmful bacteria and mold in products, especially those high in water content. The parabens used most commonly in cosmetics to preserve them are methylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben, and ethylparaben. Scientific studies suggest that the effect of parabens absorbed through the skin go beyond skin irritation: they can disrupt hormones in the body and harm fertility and reproductive organs, affect birth outcomes, and even increase the risk of cancer.
No Sulfates
Sulfates are a class of chemicals that manufacturers use as cleansing or foaming agents. They are the reason we think suds equal cleansing – spoiler alert: they don’t. Popular sulfates are sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) and sodium laureth sulfate (SLES). These compounds can be produced from petroleum or plant sources. These chemicals are simply too stripping, they remove all the good natural oils (sebum) your body produces to keep your skin and hair moisturised. We are all about hydrated skin and hair, so you won’t be seeing sulfates in any of our products.
No Silicones
While some silicones may be biodegradable, others can persist in the environment and accumulate. Silicones that are rinsed off into the waterways can pollute our waters, which is exactly what we at Ngwedi Beauty don’t want. While silicones give the illusion of moisturising because of their silky texture, they do not absorb and they leave an impenetrable film, leading to dry skin and hair.
